During the summer of 1990, BIGFOOT® 4x4 was in a dog fight for the overall points championship on the TNT Monster Truck Challenge. Due to BIGFOOT 8 being banned from competition, Andy Brass stepped into the ole reliable #4 and stepped up his game on the Louisville Motor Speedway figure 8 track. Trying to drive the truck in the event was a challenge. The big block Ford engine was built for alcohol, but the rules stated they needed to run the 540ci engine on gasoline. In several side-by-side races, the truck did not run properly due to the tuning.
However, with Andy Brass behind the wheel, he stuck it out, came from behind on multiple occasions and made it his weekend against the best monster trucks on the circuit. After the two-show event, which took place on June 9th and June 10th, 1990, BIGFOOT 4 “Louisville” finished an incredible 2nd during night one and 1st during the day show the next day. Racing hard, not giving up and with a lot of hard work behind the scenes, the BIGFOOT 4X4 team regained the national points lead during the famous weekend.
On the RC monster truck circuit, it’s common to build replicas from the golden age of racing and stylize these beasts in honor of their accomplishments. JConcepts is taking this concept to the next level by offering the officially licensed, 1990 Ford F-250 body together with BIGFOOT 4X4 replica decal set in one package. Not only is the body shell and fastback an all-new build for this project, it is built to integrate high quality injection molds parts to add even more detail to the assembly. It’s the details that make this body set special, and it’s packed with accessories to build a race truck to Louisville appearance specifications.
First, the JConcepts team designed the body to accept the included #2964 wrap-around front bumper and #2963 rear bumper assembly. A tough task considering most polycarbonate bodies are not produced to hold injection molds parts in this manner. Next, the front clip of the body was built to accept a drop-in injection molded and chrome 3D front grille assembly. Just these three accessories help to bring additional elements to the depth of the design, but wait, there is more.
JConcepts elected to add an assortment of injection molded and chrome plated engine accessories to this set. These items include the dual and vertical air-filter assembly commonly used on BIGFOOT #4 during this time. The combination of parts stacks together and aligns with the center ridge in the body lines to mount right into place. The included fastback is built to attach to the body with inner roll-bar assembly which is already injection molded blue in color. The inner roll-bar assembly makes it possible to mount the included mock light buckets on top and during assembly, add the iconic fluorescent pink light covers to finish off the look.
Under the bed is a triangulated mount which doubles as security to the inner rollbar, and an under-body flag mount. Slide one of the included 4 different rubber injection molded flags (FORD, Regulator, JConcepts Speed Shop, JC) on the plastic flagpole and insert through the top of the bed to align with under flag mount. Under the body, while holding the flag in place, run the included screw into place to pinch the flagpole into position.
The body set is intended for trucks ranging from 10.50” to 11.00” wheelbase including Clod Buster, Regulator, other custom designed retro trucks. The pre-trimmed BIGFOOT decals peel and stick to the body and include logos associated with the generation of yesteryear, and today. Also included, authentic FORD truck headlight, grille, taillights, decals along with miscellaneous monster truck, street truck, and JConcepts logos. The body arrives clear with window mask and is backed by JConcepts customer service and racing heritage.
